What games will Gabriel Jesus miss for Arsenal?

That, unfortunately, is the question that a lot of Gooners will be wondering as of right now.

Earlier today, Fabrizio Romano revealed on Twitter that the 25-year-old’s World Cup campaign with Brazil is over following a knee injury against Cameroon on Friday.

The reliable Italian journalist added that the Arsenal hitman wouldn’t be back until January.

It remains to be seen exactly what date he’ll be available for Mikel Arteta again as the Gunners look to sustain a genuine Premier League title challenge.

But here, HITC Sport looks at the games Jesus will likely miss – and others he may be doubtful for.

What games will Gabriel Jesus miss for Arsenal?

Arsenal’s Premier League campaign resumes on Boxing Day with a visit of West Ham United, followed by a New Year’s Eve trip to Brighton & Hove Albion.

On January 3, the North Londoners then host Newcastle United in what will be a very difficult encounter, given that Eddie Howe’s side are third in the Premier League table.

If Romano is right and January is an accurate return month for Jesus then those three fixtures definitely look difficult for the former Manchester City hitman to return for.

But more worryingly, if he isn’t very much on the comeback trail by then, then his participation in the North London derby will be questioned.

Arsenal are away to Tottenham Hotspur on January 15 and that, more than the others, will be concerning Arteta fans of the Emirates Stadium outfit.

Arteta’s side – away to Oxford United in the FA Cup six days before that – may be able to survive against West Ham, Brighton and the Magpies with Eddie Nketiah in attack.

But the derby is massive and the Spanish boss will be desperate to have someone of Jesus’s ability available for that one.
