President Donald Trump heaped praise on three-time unanimous MVP and Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani during their recent White House visit.

The Dodgers are hoping to be the first MLB team ever to complete a World Series three-peat this season. To celebrate last season’s triumph, the team was welcomed by President Donald Trump at the White House.

Trump introduced Ohtani in front of the White House crowd with glowing words, recognizing the Japanese player’s significance as an international legend and the magnitude of his achievements.

“No player has ever earned more than one unanimous league MVP except for an international legend named Shohei Ohtani. He’s amazing. Everybody loves him. Last year, Shohei did what was previously unthinkable. He collected his third straight unanimous league MVP with a franchise record 55 home runs.”

The Dodgers have assembled an incredible squad around Ohtani, but he’s the primary engine behind the team being on the cusp of a historic three-peat.

Trump’s commitment to highlighting sports continues. He seems to openly accept Ohtani’s tremendous skill, as the Japanese star has proven that he is better than all American players in the MLB currently.

The Dodgers are 65-38 this season, comfortably atop the NL West with an 11-game lead over the second-placed Arizona Diamondbacks.

Ohtani is hitting .283 with 22 home runs, 60 RBI, and a .917 OPS through 94 games at bat this season. As a pitcher, Ohtani is 8-2 with a 1.79 ERA, 95 strikeouts, and a 0.95 WHIP over 85.2 innings in 14 starts.

He is the overwhelming favorite to win the NL MVP this season, with Chicago Cubs’ Pete-Crow Armstrong the closest candidate to upsetting Ohtani.
