Leeds fans were recently captivated by talk of Marcelo Bielsa potentially returning to Elland Road if the 49ers Enterprises took over.
Those rumours were unfounded – until now.
Thanks to The Athletic, some light has now been shed on that talk of Marcelo Bielsa potentially coming back to Leeds.
What’s the story?
Well – according to The Athletic – Leeds recently held discussions about life after Sam Allardyce.
The 68-year-old is not expected to stay beyond the final game of this season, and internal talks were held in recent weeks about who should take over.
It is said that Bielsa’s name popped up in those discussions, albeit only for a brief period.
The Athletic even mention that the Argentine – who was in talks to join Everton earlier this year – was made aware of this by his representatives.

However, Bielsa was already in advanced talks with Uruguay, and he has now been announced as their new Head Coach on a three-year contract.
Therefore, the man affectionally nicknamed El Loco can officially be ruled out of the running to replace Allardyce.
How Bielsa feels about Leeds sacking
The Athletic also included a short segment on how Bielsa felt about being forced to depart Leeds.
It is said that the 67-year-old was disappointed to have his time at Elland Road ended prematurely in February 2022.
Bielsa lost his job in harsh circumstances. He was handed his P45 following three successive defeats to Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham, all of whom would have been difficult for any manager to get a result against.
In that respect, the South American has every right to feel disappointed – all of his efforts were judged on three games against some of England’s best sides, and things have turned toxic at Elland Road since he left.
Whatever happens this summer, nobody can deny that sacking Bielsa was a woeful decision by Andrea Radrizzani.
