Earlier today, Crystal Palace dismantled Aston Villa by a 3-1 scoreline, in what was a convincing win in the Premier League clash at Selhurst Park.

The south Londoners has 17 shots and 51% possession of the ball as they pinned the Villans back, although it initially seemed as if the Eagles would be in for a tough game after Ollie Watkins scored in just the fifth minute.

Ultimately, the England international learned why you should never tease the Homesdale Road stand at Selhurst Park…

What’s the story?

Well, Watkins infuriated the Crystal Palace fans by celebrating directly in front of them earlier today, after Leon Bailey slipped him in to put Aston Villa ahead.

However, the mood changed around Selhurst Park almost immediately as Wilfried Zaha equalised just two minutes later in the seventh minute, which promoted the Crystal Palace fans to jeer the 26-year-old.

They could be heard chanting: “Watkins, what’s the score, Ollie Watkins what’s the score?”

Ultimately, the Aston Villa No.11 was unable to respond to those taunts as he watched Crystal Palace take the lead in the second half, following a rebounded penalty from Zaha.

Jean-Philippe Mateta then sealed the win after bundling in a phenomenal cross from Tyrick Mitchell with his first touch after replacing Odsonne Edouard in the 70th minute.

Crystal Palace want to take Ollie Watkins from Aston Villa

Well, this is awkward.

It has been said that Patrick Vieira is actually keen to bring Watkins to SE25 after rumours of tension between the striker and Steven Gerrard – Leeds are also interested.

However, it remains to be seen if the £28m man will actually want to join the south Londoners after enduring a difficult afternoon with the supporters.

If the move does happen, we’re sure the tension would quickly ease, as Watkins is a brilliant forward.
