Christian Pulisic has broken his silence after the United States’ FIFA World Cup campaign came to a disappointing end with a 4-1 loss to Belgium in the Round of 16.

Pulisic, the USMNT captain, took to Instagram to reflect on the heartbreaking defeat, admitting the team fell short while thanking supporters who backed them throughout the tournament.

The result marked the end of the United States’ World Cup hopes on home soil, with Belgium advancing to the quarterfinals after a dominant performance.

Christian Pulisic Admits USMNT ‘Wasn’t Good Enough’

Pulisic shared an emotional message on his Instagram following the defeat, acknowledging that the team failed to meet expectations despite the excitement surrounding the tournament.

“Simply wasn’t good enough. This one hurts and it will for a long time,” Pulisic wrote.

He also thanked the American supporters who stood behind the team throughout the competition, saying the memories of representing the country at a home World Cup were something that would last a lifetime.

USMNT’s World Cup Ends in Disappointment

The United States entered the tournament with high expectations under head coach Mauricio Pochettino but saw their run come to an abrupt end against Belgium.

Pulisic’s own performance also came under scrutiny after the defeat. According to ESPN FC, he lost possession 11 times in just 45 minutes against Belgium, the most of any player on the field.

The stat summed up a frustrating outing for the USMNT captain, who was later forced off with an ankle issue as their World Cup campaign ended on a sour note.

While the painful exit has sparked criticism from fans and former players alike, Pulisic’s message made it clear that nobody was more disappointed than the players themselves.

The 27-year-old will now turn his focus back to club football before looking ahead to the next chapter with the USMNT after a World Cup that ended well short of expectations.
