Alan Brazil has tipped Roberto Firmino to join Arsenal, after the arrival of Darwin Nunez at Liverpool, as he told talkSPORT.
Former Arsenal midfielder, Ray Parlour, responded by saying that Arsenal ‘certainly need a striker’ this summer.
With Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leaving the Emirates in January, those in north London needed a new number nine back in the winter, but no-one was brought in.
Fast forward to today and Alexandre Lacazette will officially leave the building at the end of this month, yet no new striker has arrived.
The longer Arsenal take, the more nervous and annoyed fans will get, as Brazil and Parlour spoke about Firmino and Nunez.
“He’s explosive, he can go past players and he’s strong,” said Parlour. “He’s 6ft2, so he can be a target man as well if needed. Let’s see how he settles in.”
“What about Firmino, then,” asked Brazil. “Away from home, he has scored so many goals. He struggles at Anfield, for some reason, to score regularly.
“Is his Liverpool career now (Nunez has been signed). Would he stay in this country? What about Arsenal.”
“Well, it will be interesting to see where he goes,” replied Parlour. “They (Arsenal) certainly need a striker.”
FIRMINO CAN’T LEAVE LIVERPOOL
It looks as though Sadio Mane will be heading for the Anfield exit door sooner than later, so another one of their original front three can’t follow him out.
Whilst Firmino has dropped down the pecking order under Jurgen Klopp, the £29 million man (BBC Sport) is still a top, top quality player.
With the experience of Mane out of the door, there will be more pressure on the new boys Nunez and Luis Diaz, then that puts more emphasis on someone like Firmino because he is the proven one, alongside Mo Salah.
And, at the end of the day, Firmino can also be game-changing and he can help this Liverpool forward line dance like no-one else with his genius play between the pockets.
