West Ham United’s latest signing Guido Rodriguez has revealed that one Hammers ace convinced him of a move to East London.

Julen Lopetegui’s West Ham United have been busy this summer with the Spaniard replacing David Moyes at the helm after the Scotsman was dismissed towards the end of last season.

West Ham signed Wolves’ Max Kilman and have also added exciting teenage midfielder Luis Guilherme to their squad and the club are not done there.

HITC has reported that West Ham have made a breakthrough to land Jean-Clair Todibo after the deal with Juventus stalled.

Guido Rodriguez, who also moved to the Hammers, has opened up on his decision to leave Real Betis.

Rodriguez hails Edson Alvarez for being key reason behind West Ham move

West Ham’s signing of Rodriguez was from under the noses of Barcelona and the Argentine midfielder could be a solid signing for the Hammers.

The Hammers also wrestled in ahead of Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce for the midfielder and it appears Rodriguez will be an exciting deal.

Turning down Mourinho, and potentially Barcelona, means that West Ham must have convinced him with a key project and the midfielder has spoken about his move to the Hammers including how Edson Alvarez convinced him to join the club.

“We spoke a little when the news came out, he sent me a message to ask if it was true,” he told AS Mexico.

“It had all happened very fast, and I told him that it was possible. I was happy to be able to be in a squad with him again.

“We got on well in América, so hopefully that will be the same here. He told me about the club’s project, the squad that’s being assembled. I think that we’ll get on well.”

Rodriguez and Alvarez could form an exciting partnership

Since his departure from West Ham in the summer of 2023, the Hammers have been trying to replace Declan Rice.

With Rodriguez coming in to potentially partner Alvarez, who has been superb for the Hammers, West Ham could go someway to replacing the Englishman.

Alvarez has been linked with Atletico Madrid and Manchester United but these comments from Rodriguez suggests the Mexican may be staying put.

‘Exceptional on the defensive end’ is how the Professional Football Scouts Association labelled the Argentine and he could be a solid addition for the Hammers, who signed the Real Betis ace on a free transfer.
