West Ham United have made a bid of £50 million for Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips, according to The Sun.
The report in the British tabloid has described West Ham’s bid for Phillips as an ‘astonishing offer’.
The Hammers want to bring the midfielder now, but the London club are also willing to wait until the summer of 2022 to sign him.
The 26-year-old is actually on the sidelines at the moment with a hamstring injury and will not be back in action until March 2022.
However, that has not stopped West Ham from making a move for the 26-year-old.
Could West Ham sign Kalvin Phillips from Leeds now?
In our view, West Ham are unlikely to be successful in their quest to sign Phillips from Leeds in the January transfer window.
The Guardian have actually reported that Leeds have turned down the Hammers.
And, in our opinion, that is not a surprise.

After all, Leeds are in danger of getting relegated and Phillips is an important player for the West Yorkshire club.
However, things could change in the summer of 2022.
Yes, Phillips is a Leeds fan, but the chance to play for West Ham could be tempting, especially if the Hammers are able to finish in the Premier League top four.
