West Ham United are interested in signing Gabriel Barbosa from Flamengo in the January transfer window, according to Sky Sports.

The report has claimed that West Ham have held talks over signing the Brazil international striker this month.

There are three other Premier League clubs interested in Gabriel Barbosa, according to the report.

As we covered here on HITC Sport this week, one of them is Newcastle United.

Sky Sports have reported that Barbosa watches all of West Ham’s games and is ‘impressed with the job David Moyes is doing’.

The striker reportedly wants to play in the Premier League.

Would Gabriel Barbosa make West Ham better?

In our view, it would not hurt West Ham to sign ‘Gabigol’ on a loan deal from Flamengo until the end of the season.

The sticker has scored 104 goals in 147 games for Brazilian club Flamengo.

Gabriel Barbosa has scored 29 goals and provided nine assists from 43 appearances in all competitions for his side this season.

If Flamengo are willing to do a loan deal for Gabigol, then West Ham should take up that option.

West Ham manager David Moyes cannot rely on just Michail Antonio upfront for the second half of the season.
