Gabriel Barbosa is open to a move to Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United in the January transfer window, according to The Chronicle.
The report has claimed that Newcastle made a pre-Christmas enquiry about signing Barbosa from Flamengo in the January transfer window.
The Brazilian striker reportedly likes the idea of playing for Newcastle and turning up alongside his compatriot Joelinton.
Flamengo are open to letting ‘Gabigol’ leave on loan until the end of the season, with the possibility of a £17 million permanent deal in the summer of 2022.
Newcastle should be serious Gabriel Barbosa
In our opinion, Newcastle should sign Gabigol from Flamengo, or at least seriously consider securing his services in the January transfer window.
A loan deal with an option to buy sounds really good.
The 25-year-old Brazil international is a good striker who has 29 goals and nine assists from 43 appearances in all competitions for Flamengo this season.

We know that Callum Wilson has had injury problems.
So, Newcastle manager Howe needs to sign another striker in order to enhance his side’s chances of escaping the dreaded drop to the Championship at the end of the season.
How many quality strikers would Newcastle be able to attract in the middle of the season?
If Gabigol wants to join Newcastle and Flamengo are open to a loan deal, then Newcastle should get serious.
