West Ham United are interested in signing winger Tete but may be running out of time with Galatasaray making their move.

Tete could reunite with Lucas Paqueta at West Ham United but they will have to be very quick.

That is according to a report from The Telegraph’s Mike McGrath, who claims that West Ham have been exploring a deal for Tete.

It’s stated that the Hammers are ‘running out of time’ though as Galatasaray have now made a move for the Brazilian.

West Ham were eyeing up a move for Tete in the hope of reuniting him with Emerson Palmieri and Lucas Paqueta.

Tete spent time with Lyon in 2022 having been allowed to suspend his contract with Shakhtar Donetsk.

Paqueta and Emerson ended up moving on to West Ham and Tete continued with Lyton, only to join Leicester City on loan in January.

Now moving on for free just like Manor Solomon did with his move to Tottenham, Tete is looking for a new club.

Reuniting with Paqueta could appeal and West Ham may hope that signing Tete would convince Paqueta to stay amid interest from Manchester City.

West Ham may also see Tete as great competition for Jarrod Bowen down the right flank but will need to move very quickly.

Who is West Ham United target Tete?

Tete came up in the Gremio youth ranks but never even made a first-team appearance for the Brazilian side.

Just days after his 19th birthday, Tete was snapped up by Shakhtar Donetsk as they continued to go for Brazilians.

Shakhtar have landed major Brazilian signings in the past with Elano, Fernandinho, Fred, Willian, Jadson, Alex Teixeira, Luiz Adriano and Douglas Costa all turning out for them.

The hope was that Tete would follow in their footsteps and his form in Ukraine was certainly impressive.

Tete racked up 31 goals in 108 games for Shakhtar, growing into a major threat down the right flank.

The 23-year-old then impressed on loan at Lyon by scoring eight times in 30 games, sparking Leicester’s interest.

Tete scored on his Foxes debut but didn’t find the net in any of his other 13 appearances before leaving upon Leicester’s relegation.

Hailed as a special player by former Lyon boss Peter Bosz, Tete clearly has talent and could be a smart addition without breaking the bank.

West Ham may be busy with other deals right now but they must get a move on if they want to reunite Tete with Paqueta.

Update: Fabrizio Romano now reports that Galatasaray are on the verge of signing Tete.

A deal should be announced today with a four-year contract now in place, handing Tete around £41,500-a-week.
