West Ham United want Ainsley Maitland-Niles and could move for the Arsenal man before the transfer window slams shut.

The Hammers snapped up Thilo Kehrer last week and are now on the verge of a deal for Chelsea left back Emerson Palmieri.

David Moyes is desperate for new additions and who can blame him after three straight defeats to start the season?

Emerson is one player heading across London to join West Ham and there could yet be another in the form of Arsenal man Maitland-Niles.

West Ham United want Ainsley Maitland-Niles

The Daily Mail claim that West Ham have discussed making a move to sign Maitland-Niles before the end of the summer window.

The Times have reported that Edu and Arsenal are determined to move Maitland-Niles out of the club in the coming days.

This has been a long-running saga now, going back to the summer of 2020.

Maitland-Niles turned down other offers to stay at Arsenal but then found himself out of Mikel Arteta’s team, leading to a loan move to West Bromwich Albion in January 2021.

Maitland-Niles was back at Arsenal last summer but again struggled for playing time before heading to Italy to join Jose Mourinho’s Roma.

The 24-year-old is once again back with Arsenal after a loan move but has little chance of first-team action.

West Ham are now looking to bring Maitland-Niles to the London Stadium, with his versatility no doubt appealing to Moyes.

Maitland-Niles would be able to offer competition for Vladimir Coufal at right back as well as for Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek in midfield.

Maitland-Niles has made it clear in the past that he would prefer to play as a midfielder, which is something for West Ham to consider.

Mikel Arteta has hailed Maitland-Niles as a ‘huge talent’ but Arsenal will seemingly accept a deal to sell him this summer – and West Ham are right in the mix.
