West Ham United have suffered a blow with Jarrod Bowen likely to miss Sunday’s clash at home to Everton, but could return from injury for Thursday’s Europa League tie with Lyon.
That’s according to the Evening Standard, who report Bowen has stepped up his recovery at their Rush Green training ground from the ankle injury he sustained earlier this month.
But the forward has not yet convinced the Irons’ medical team he is in a condition to play. The 25-year-old is also yet to take part in team sessions as he begins working on the grass.

Bowen developed his issue during the Hammers’ 1-0 loss at Liverpool and has missed their last two Premier League fixtures. Initial scans revealed no serious damage, but West Ham developed fears that he also suffered a hairline fracture or chip that scans could not show.
His rehabilitation has proven frustrating for David Moyes, having missed the Irons’ Europa League last 16 ties with Sevilla. Now, West Ham’s top-flight meeting with Everton is likely to come too soon for Bowen to return from injury, but he could feature at home to Lyon.
Jarrod Bowen likely to miss Everton clash as West Ham star eyes Lyon showdown
Lyon visit the London Stadium for the first-leg of West Ham’s Europa League quarter-final showdown next week. Moyes will surely want his 12 goal, 11 assist dynamo – who Jurgen Klopp calls ‘unbelievable’ – available to face the Ligue 1 side and help to a first-leg result.

So, it is unlikely Moyes would fume if Bowen’s injury keeps him from facing Everton at the weekend. The Scot would surely be loath to risk the £22m former Hull City winger playing and aggravating the issue. So, he should see the blow of Sunday as a hiccup for Thursday.
