West Ham should rival Serie A side for Everton outcast Besic

West Ham have been linked with a whole host of central midfielders this month, and Everton’s Besic could be the answer.

Everton holding midfielder Muhamed Besic’s time at Goodison Park is seemingly drawing to a close with Serie A outfit Torino interested in luring the tough-tackler to Italy, but could he be the answer to West Ham’s midfield woes?

David Moyes has been linked with a whole host of central midfielders this month, including the likes of Newcastle United’s Jonjo Shelvey, Anderlecht’s Leander Dendoncker and Bournemouth’s Harry Arter.

Pedro Obiang and Cheikhou Kouyate have faced huge criticism for their performances this season, with neither showing the kind of consistency required to push West Ham out of a relegation battle in the Premier League.

The duo’s passing has left a lot to be desired, while their work rate has also drawn criticism from sections of the London Stadium crowd.

The Hammers are being either priced out of a move after missing out on William Carvalho in the summer, or other sides are beating the east Londoners to the punch and a quick, easy move is needed to give the Hammers depth.

That should see them rival Torino for Bosnia international Besic, after Sky Italy journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claimed on his website that Walter Mazzarri’s side had approached the Toffees for the 25-year-old.

Way down the pecking order, the former Hamburg midfielder will count himself highly unfortunate to be out of the reckoning under Sam Allardyce with Everton boasting an abnormal number of central midfielders.

Morgan Schneiderlin, Tom Davies, Idrissa Gueye, Davy Klaassen, Beni Baningime, James McCarthy and Wayne Rooney have all been preferred to Besic this term, seeing him fall down the pecking order following a long-term knee injury.

Known for his tireless work rate, aggression and intricate array of passing, Besic would be the perfect midfield partner to captain Mark Noble if the Hammers decided to land the Everton outcast.

He would also prove more than affordable, with Everton signing him for a reported £4million fee in 2014. The Daily Star claim he is earning £30,000 a week, and that will be well within the Hammers’ reach.
