West Ham United are again showing an interest in long-time transfer target Serhou Guirassy with the Premier League linked forward breaking Bundesliga records for Stuttgart.

Not even Robert Lewandowski or Erling Haaland put up numbers as staggering as Serhou Guirassy over in Germany. At least, not in the first few weeks of a new campaign.

The most in-form centre-forward anywhere in European football right now, the well-travelled Frenchman took his tally to a remarkable, record-breaking 13 goals in seven Bundesliga games with a rapid-fire hat-trick – his second of the season already – against Wolfsburg on Saturday.

Inevitably, such displays are not going unnoticed.

Tottenham Hotspur, Nottingham Forest and Fulham have been credited with an interest. 90Min, meanwhile, believes that West Ham, Crystal Palace and AFC Bournemouth have sent scouts to watch the irrepressible Guirassy too.

There is also interest from a Brentford side facing up to Ivan Toney’s potential departure in 2024.

West Ham back in for Serhou Guirassy

And if Guirassy is a familiar name to supporters of West Ham or Crystal Palace, then there is probably a very good reason for that.

“In addition to the French interest, we can also add Crystal Palace and West Ham,” Bernard Joannin, the presient of Guirassy’s former employers Amiens, said back in 2020.

“Currently, the most interesting offers are those coming from England.”

Guirassy would opt for Rennes instead three years ago.

But, in a development that is almost guaranteed to exacerbate the interest from London neighbours West Ham and Crystal Palace – not to mention Spurs, Brentford, Forest and a host of Saudi Arabian clubs – Guirassy could be available for a bargain £17 million with a very affordable release clause set to become active over the next 11 months (BILD).

Europe’s best striker right now

“He is in the form of his life in my opinion. He is incredibly strong,” Stuttgart coach Sebastian Hoeness beamed recently after Guirassy became the first Stuttgart player in 55 years to hit the eight-goal mark after just four matches (DW).

“We hope he carries on like this.”

With a hat-trick last time out, Guirassy’s purple patch is certainly showing no sign of ending.
