Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City are the three Premier League title contenders, but Rio Ferdinand has still mentioned West Ham United while discussing them.

Ferdinand does not think that West Ham will win the Premier League title this season.

However, the former West Ham star has still mentioned David Moyes’s side while discussing the title race between defending champions City, Liverpool and Chelsea.

Rio Ferdinand on West Ham United

Ferdinand said on BT Sport 1 (11:38am, December 11, 2021): “At the moment, we have got three teams who are really, really amongst there.

“West Ham will have a shout, an argument to be in there, but I think three teams who are up there will be the ones.”

Could Hammers do a Leicester City?

We know how strong Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea are.

There are three elite teams in England.

However, after 15 rounds of matches in the Premier League this season, West Ham are eight points off the top spot.

Okay, now that might seem a lot, but if the Hammers continue to win and City, Liverpool and Chelsea drop points, then the gap will close.

In our view, City, Liverpool and Chelsea are the favourites for the Premier League title this season.

But, we do not think that West Ham’s chances can be written off just yet.

Yes, that might seem a long shot, but we all remember what Leicester City did under Claudio Ranieri.

Could West Ham pull off a Leicester?

Most would say unlikely, but in football, as in life, never say never.
