David Moyes’s West Ham United are now reportedly ready to make a bid for Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse.

According to The Daily Mail, West Ham United are interested in signing James Ward-Prowse from Southampton in the summer transfer window.

Southampton, who will play in the Championship next season after getting relegated from the Premier League, are willing to sell Ward-Prowse.

The Saints want £40 million in transfer fees for the 28-year-old England international midfielder, according to The Daily Mail.

Could West Ham United sign James Ward-Prowse from Southampton?

In our opinion, West Ham United could be able to sign James Ward-Prowse from Southampton in the summer transfer window.

However, we believe that the Hammers would have to pay more than £20 million for the Englishman, described as a “gifted midfielder” by former Tottenham Hotspur forward Garth Crooks on BBC Sport in February 2022.

After all, if Southampton value Ward-Prowse at £40 million, surely they are not going to sell him at half that price, especially as he is at the top of his game at the moment and has extensive experience in the Premier League.

The one factor that could go in West Ham’s favour is that the midfielder himself wants to join the London club.

The Telegraph reported in late June that Ward-Prowse is “keen on a move to the Hammers” this summer.
