Dean Jones has told Give Me Sport that West Ham are in talks for free agent Adnan Januzaj in a potential reunion with David Moyes – Januzaj has travelled to London with imminent Newcastle signing Alexander Isak.
Januzaj, 27, left Real Sociedad this summer. His five-year spell with the Spanish side has come to an end, in which he clocked up 44 goal involvements in 168 appearances. He has formed a strong bond with Sweden striker Isak.
Of course, reports claim that Isak is set to complete a club-record £58million move to Newcastle from Sociedad. It is claimed that he has been training for much of the summer with Januzaj, and the two have travelled to London.
That has prompted talks with West Ham. Januzaj, of course, played under Moyes at Manchester United and Sunderland. The two also share Sociedad on their CV, but Januzaj went to the Spanish club after Moyes had gone.
Now, the two could work together for a third time at West Ham. Jones claims the Hammers are in talks to land Januzaj in a move that is not constrained by time, given Januzaj is currently without a club.

“Januzaj and [Alexander] Isak have actually been very close throughout the summer. They’ve been training on their own for a lot. They both travelled over together and they stayed in the same hotel in London last night.
“Januzaj has been looking to join West Ham. About a month ago, it looked like that a deal might be close. Then West Ham switched to other options. I’m told that negotiations are going on right now with Januzaj.”

It is a sensible move from the hammers. Last season, West Ham lacked depth and it told, as they reached the Europa League semi-finals. It affected their Premier League form, especially in the second half of their campaign.
With West Ham likely to be one of the bigger clubs in the Conference League, they will have ambitions of winning the trophy. Januzaj would not start above the likes of Jarrod Bowen, Pablo Fornals or Said Benrahma.
But what he does offer, is plenty of depth in the final third. His versatility allows him to play on either flank or as a false nine, and as a no.10. A reunion with Moyes, on a free, makes utter sense for all parties involved.
