West Ham United have a new face in defender Kurt Zouma, and he was in action for France against Finland on Tuesday night.

West Ham wanted to add a new centre back before the transfer deadline and pounced to sign Zouma in a big-money move from Chelsea – a move that some Blues players didn’t love.

Zouma is no stranger to London, so he should cope with the change of club well, and he will be in contention to play against Southampton this weekend.

On Tuesday night, Zouma started for France in a three-man back line alongside Raphael Varane and Presnel Kimpembe – a system David Moyes has used at West Ham in the past.

France secured a 2-0 win with two goals from Antoine Griezmann in Lyon, with Zouma playing a key role in a clean sheet.

That’s what West Ham will hope Zouma can bring, and last night’s clean sheet should stand him in good stead for a game against Southampton on Saturday – if Moyes picks him.

West Ham fans were watching Zouma closely, and some took to Twitter to share their views on him.

Some believe that that Zouma is ‘going to be a Rolls Royce’ at West Ham, praising him for his ability playing in a back three.

Others joked about Zouma being better than Raphael Varane, whilst hailing West Ham boss Moyes for signing him over Nikola Milenkovic.
