England kicked off their Euro 2020 campaign with a 1-0 win over Croatia this afternoon – but defender Duje Caleta-Car really caught the eye of West Ham fans.
The Three Lions broke the deadlock in the second half as Raheem Sterling struck, and Croatia couldn’t haul themselves level.
England now head into the clash with Scotland in great spirits, whilst Croatia must rebound against the Czech Republic.
How did Caleta-Car play?
Marseille defender Duje Caleta-Car is a familiar name to some fans, as Liverpool attempted to pull off a January deal for him before the move collapsed.
West Ham United remain keen on signing Caleta-Car, so his battle with Tottenham star Harry Kane was under the microscope today.
Caleta-Car racked up three tackles, one clearance, one aerial duel and also passed out from the back well, though did commit three fouls and picked up a yellow card.

West Ham supporters were blown away by Caleta-Car, taking to Twitter to praise the Croatian defender despite his side’s defeat.
Some felt that Caleta-Car was ‘immense’, praising him for ‘looking class’ and being ‘very composed’.
Others felt that Caleta-Car ‘did a job on Harry Kane’, and now want to see him do it in claret and blue as fans joked about how he nullified the Tottenham man.
