West Ham United are considering a late move to sign Liverpool defender Joe Gomez ahead of the transfer deadline.
Joe Gomez is on the radar at West Ham United as David Moyes eyes up the Liverpool defender for a late move to East London.
That is according to The Times, who claim that West Ham have been discussing making a late move to sign Gomez.
It’s stated that Gomez is desperate for first-team football as he looks to force his way back into the England picture ahead of Euro 2024.
Gomez is fourth-choice at Liverpool when everybody is fit and available, a situation which seemingly doesn’t appeal to the 25-year-old.
West Ham could offer Gomez an escape route whilst there is even the option of a move to Saudi Arabia too.
Al Ittihad – who have already signed Fabinho and want to land Mohamed Salah – are now looking to sign Gomez as well.
Gomez did though impress for Liverpool on Sunday as he was thrust into action following Virgil van Dijk’s red card against Newcastle United.
Maybe that can catapult Gomez back into regular starting action in the coming months.
That could be a risk though with Gomez desperate to play this season and risking being back on the bench when everybody is available at Liverpool.

Joe Gomez to West Ham United would be a surprise
We can understand why David Moyes may rate Gomez as a player.
The former Charlton Athletic talent was hailed as ‘exceptional’ by Jurgen Klopp last season and has impressive pace as a defender.
Gomez also has the versatility to play at right back if needed and that could be something which really appeals to Moyes.
West Ham have just signed a new defender though, landing Greek international Konstantinos Mavropanos.

The Hammers turned to Mavropanos after missing out on Harry Maguire, so signing another centre back would be somewhat surprising.
Maybe Gomez could be a right back for West Ham but that’s not his natural position.
Vladimir Coufal features as West Ham’s main right back but signing a younger, attack-minded option – like Cody Drameh – makes sense for the Hammers.
We can’t see Gomez to West Ham materialising this week but the transfer deadline always brings some surprise moves – and this could be one of them.
