West Ham United will listen to offers for Ryan Fredericks in the January transfer window, as David Moyes deems the defender ‘surplus to requirements’, according to football.london.
Fredericks joined the Hammers for free in 2018, but he is now in the final six-months of his £40k-a-week contract. He was the first signing of Manuel Pellegrini’s London Stadium spell after leaving Fulham following the Cottagers’ Championship play-off success.
Injuries and fitness-related issues have thwarted the 29-year-old’s time in claret-and-blue, however. Fredericks is also now third in Moyes’ pecking order. Ben Johnson leapt in front with a string of impressive performances while Vladimir Coufal recovered from an injury.
Fredericks has only made five appearances in all competitions so far this season. Of his outings, three have come in the Europa League, while he has only started two altogether.
Additionally, his only European opening role came in the Hammers’ opening group stage tie at Dinamo Zagreb. While Moyes had to replace Fredericks only 17-minutes into his start at Manchester United in the Carabao Cup. He sustained a groin injury in the third-round tie.

Moyes now deems Fredericks surplus to requirements and West Ham will listen to offers in the January transfer window. If the Irons fail to sell the dynamo, they will also let him leave for free when his contract expires.
His impending exit emphasis the Potters Bar-born defender’s decline in the last 15-months. From being the first-choice and called ‘outstanding’ by Garth Crooks, he has fallen entirely out of favour after Coufal’s bargain £5.5m move from Slavia Prague in October 2020.
Now, Fredericks’ West Ham career is nearing an end, be it in January or he leaves in a free transfer. But just two Premier League minutes all term may limit what clubs show interest.
