West Brom’s Nathaniel Chalobah is in talks with Maccabi Haifa.

Nathaniel Chalobah could be on his way out of West Brom as he edges towards a move to Maccabi Haifa, as reported by Express & Star. The Baggies have given the player permission to discuss personal terms with the Israeli outfit.

The once-capped former England international only joined the Baggies in January, when he signed an 18-month contract at the Hawthorns. It took him a while to reach full match fitness, but Chalobah was able to make 13 appearances in the Championship.

Carlos Corberan certainly has faith in Chalobah’s ability. The manager said of the 28-year-old, “Chalobah is a player who has a lot of possibilities to help the team a lot,” as quoted by Birmingham Live. However, it seems that the Spanish coach believes his side can cope without the defensive midfielder in the upcoming campaign.

West Brom’s depleted midfield

If West Brom can attract a decent fee for Chalobah, it will be hard for the club to refuse it, despite the fact that the former Chelsea ace has only been on the books for six months. Albion’s spending power is linked to their selling ability this summer, given the precarious financial situation at the club.

Chalobah would need replacing though. With Jake Livermore having already departed the club, Chalobah’s exit would leave Corberan’s squad a little light on options in the middle of the park. Corberan will surely already have potential targets in mind in what could quickly become a busy summer for the Baggies, especially with interest in a number of other members of their first team squad.
