ACF Fiorentina CEO Joe Barone has asked for clarity between Dusan Vlahovic and his agent as Arsenal ramp up their interest in the striker.

Speaking to DAZN via Fabrizio Romano, the American businessman revealed that he is open to negotiating a deal to sell Vlahovic this summer. The forward is reportedly a target for Arsenal as per the Daily Mail, who need a striker this month.

The 21-year-old has been one of the in-form forwards in world football over the past 12 months. The Hard Tackle labelled Vlahovic a ‘phenom’ following after the striker smashed the record for goals scored in a calendar year in Serie A in 2021.

And after such a year, it is no wonder that the likes of Arsenal are keen on signing Vlahovic, with Juventus also chasing the youngster. And according to Fiorentina CEO’s, there is an opportunity for the striker to leave this month.

Barone said when asked about Vlahovic’s future: “We’re open to discuss and negotiate, but we want Vlahovic and his agent to be clear on the future, as they’re not answering. We need to talk about it.”

Arsenal’s striker problems have been on full show this month, with the north London side scoring just once in all of January as the Gunners crashed out of both the FA Cup and League Cup, as well as a draw at home to Burnley.

After a free-scoring December, this month has been a huge wake-up call for Arsenal and a stark reminder that a world-class striker will be needed if Arteta’s side are to finish in the top-four, and Vlahovic could be the answer.

At 21, the striker fits the transfer strategy of what Edu Gaspar and Arsenal have been striving for in recent windows. And given Barone’s recent comments, the Gunners should be doing everything possible to sign the Serbian in the coming days.
