Arsenal face Everton tonight in what could be a season-defining fixture for the Gunners, yet their goal of three points has already been hampered following an injury update surrounding Emile Smith Rowe.

As per the club’s official website, the England international could miss out due to a knock picked up against Manchester United on Thursday. Smith Rowe came off as a substitute in that match after scoring the opening goal.

The 21-year-old playmaker has been one of Arsenal’s key players this season, with the Hale End academy graduate starting all but one game for the Gunners this Premier League campaign.

Smith Rowe have flourished into one of Arsenal’s best players, however, this injury update could see the winger miss tonight’s huge match against Everton, where the north London side simply have to win.

After losing to United on Thursday, the Red Devils, West Ham and Tottenham all went on to win over the weekend, seeing Arsenal drop to seventh in the Premier League.

Indeed, a win will see Arsenal return to fifth in the standings, but even with Everton in the dismal form they are in, Smith Rowe potentially missing out through injury is a blow for the club.

Whilst Granit Xhaka could be in line to return after missing three months due to injury, Smith Rowe’s absence has got Arsenal fans on social media fearing the worst already.

After all, the attacker has been key to the Gunners this season in both scoring goals and creating chances for the likes of Bukayo Saka and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. And Smith Rowe could thrive against a side like Everon with their confidence at an all-time low.

Here’s what some Arsenal fans had to say about the club’s injury update on Smith Rowe on Twitter…
