Craig Pawson has been confirmed as the referee for this weekend’s huge Premier League clash between Arsenal and Spurs.
The league announced on their official website that the Sheffield-born referee will take charge of Tottenham’s massive visit to the Emirates Stadium.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side will be desperate for three points after suffering back-to-back 3-0 losses in the Premier League. Yet Spurs fans on social media are already fuming over who will referee their visit to Arsenal.
Indeed, Pawson’s reputation on both sides of the north London divide has never been a good one. Both sets of fans believe they are set up for failure on Sunday.
The referee last season famously sent off David Luiz for Arsenal in a 2-1 loss to Wolves, whilst some of his decisions in matches involving Spurs have also been questionable.
After all, Pawson sent off Heung-min Son in a game against AFC Bournemouth in 2019 that was contentious, to say the least. Moreover, Spurs fans are already fearing that the referee will make a similar mistake against Arsenal.

With Mikel Arteta’s side winning their past two Premier League games, form is on their side. Yet Spurs will likely still feel they have a chance given the fragility of this Arsenal team.
Here’s what some Spurs fans has to say about the choice of referee for Sunday’s match against Arsenal on Twitter…
