Liverpool fans are worried as FSG appear to be in talks to buy the Pittsburgh Penguins.

What’s the story?

The Athletic have reported how Liverpool’s owners want to add to their collection of sports teams by purchasing a controlling stake in the NHL side.

The pressure has been steadily building on FSG at Liverpool and this latest move hasn’t gone down well.

There are Reds fans who are now very concerned that Liverpool’s transfer budget may be reduced, as their American owners will want to focus on their new purchase.

Here is the best reaction on social media to the latest update.

Worry for Liverpool?

All reports have suggested that next summer is one where Liverpool will spend.

The Athletic said over the summer that Liverpool’s owners didn’t want to invest heavily last summer as they felt that the build up to next season would provide better opportunities.

It is clear that Liverpool’s squad does need some investment though.

While Jurgen Klopp possesses arguably the most talented starting line-up in the Premier League, they do not have the same depth as many of their title rivals.

Liverpool’s key players are also all growing older, and there is a feeling that a refresh with some young players will be needed if they are to stay competitive in the future.

If FSG do invest heavily next summer their relationship with Liverpool fans is still far from beyond repair.

But with criticism mounting, they are now under real pressure to make some big signings in the coming months, otherwise the frustrations around Anfield could mount even further.
