Martin O’Neill has said on Stadium Astro that he cannot believe that Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has not signed a new contract yet.
The former Aston Villa and Sunderland manager believes that Liverpool need to tie Salah down to a new deal now.
O’Neill said about Salah on Stadium Astro: “I am surprised to see even it has been allowed to run this length of time. Absolutely.
“Get him in a room. Lock him in. Tie him up. Get the agent in. He could not be in a better position for negotiation in his life.”

Should Liverpool hand Mo Salah a new deal?
Yes, they absolutely should.
In our view, Liverpool’s owners, the Fenway Sports Group (FSG), should hand Salah a new deal.
Now.

The 29-year-old is out of contract at Liverpool in the summer of 2023.
So, it is important that Liverpool get a deal done by next summer.
Because then Salah would have just one year left on his contract, and Liverpool may have to seriously think about selling him and not lose him on a free.
The Mirror are reporting that Salah’s agent wants the forward to get £500,000 per week as salary.

Now, that is a lot of money.
More than what Kevin De Bruyne gets at Manchester City.
Given that Salah is 29 now, we can understand why FSG are being cautious.
However, just look at the former Chelsea attacker’s stats and performances.
The Liverpool no. 11 has scored seven goals and given four assists in eight Premier League games already this season.
Salah has found the back of the net three times in two Champions League appearances.
The forward scored 22 goals and provided five assists in the Premier League, and scored six goals and gave one assist in the Champions League last season.
Salah is at the top of his game now.
In our view, Liverpool should tie down the forward to a new deal.
