Alan Shearer has been talking about Harry Kane and Tottenham after the Spurs No.10 became the club’s all-time top scorer.

The England international netted his 267th goal for the north Londoners in a 1-0 win over Manchester City to snatch the title from Jimmy Greaves.

However, many continue to use Kane’s lack of silverware as a stick to beat him with, despite his phenomenal goalscoring record, with some Tottenham fans concerned that he will leave in search of trophies.

Now, Shearer has made a claim which should ease those concerns.

What’s the story?

Well, the 52-year-old revealed that he doesn’t have any regrets about not joining Manchester United or another side during his playing career, and has no qualms about missing out on the trophies a move like that would have brought.

Shearer told BBC Sport: “There is not one minute of any day when I wake up and look back at my career, and think I wish I went to Man Utd because I would have won the Champions League or more medals. Never, not once.

“I look at Harry Kane and he has the Spurs record and will have a statue, he will get the England record and possibly get a statue at Wembley, he’s got a good chance he will get the Premier League record. They are his medals and I totally understand the decision if he decides to stay at Spurs. If he does not win a trophy will not bother him one bit, because it does not bother me at all.”

In that respect, you would imagine that Kane is more than happy to stay at Tottenham, where he seemingly finds it easy to hit the back of the net.

Harry Kane should stay at Tottenham

In our view, rival fans mocking Kane for a lack of silverware are simply jealous of what Tottenham have.

Make no mistake about it, the 29-year-old is one of the best strikers in football’s history, and he will certainly look back on his career with pride regardless of whether he wins a trophy or not.

With hero status confirmed in N17 – and Shearer’s comments ringing in his ears – Tottenham fans should feel more at ease about keeping Kane.
