Speaking on The Done Deal Show, CBS journalist Ben Jacobs has been discussing Gabriel Jesus and Arsenal’s interest in the Brazilian.
The Gunners have been repeatedly linked with a move for Jesus this summer, and according to Jacobs, the London club may now be able to get a deal done.
Indeed, according to the reporter, Jesus’ asking price has dropped by at least £10m, and now, Arsenal feel as though the striker’s valuation represents a good fee.
What’s been said?
Jacobs spoke about Jesus’ situation.
“When we first spoke about this the fee was £55m in Man City’s head, somewhere in that ballpark,” Jacobs said.
“For whatever reason, Arsenal felt that £55m was too high, but the situation now is that Man City are ready to accept an offer and the value of the deal has dropped between £10-12m, so it’s well within Arsenal’s ballpark. Now City will let Jesus go for somewhere in the low 40 millions, so Arsenal will now see that as value, but the irony is that when you drop the price you increase the interest.”

Bargain
If Jesus is available for around £40m, then that will represent something of a bargain for Arsenal.
Indeed, the striker has proven his quality for years in the Premier League, netting double figures on a yearly basis despite never being a regular starter, and if he plays every week at Arsenal, he could score for fun.
Jesus is a fantastically talented footballer, and at the age of just 25, he has his best years ahead of him.
Arsenal could secure their first-choice number nine for the best part of the next decade for just over £40m, and that would be a great piece of business.
