Gary Lineker has taken to Twitter to react after Liverpool star Mohamed Salah was named as the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year.
What’s the story?
Well, has there ever been a more deserved award?
The Liverpool No.11 was voted FWA Football of the Year after scoring 30 goals in 45 appearances for the Reds this season.
Remarkably, Salah also has 14 assists to his name, proving that he’s not just a goalscorer, but also one of the most creative forwards around.
In response to a photo of the 29-year-old holding his award, Lineker posted the following two-word tweet about the man Alan Shearer called selfish.
It’s nice to see one lethal goalscorer recognise another prolific forward’s accomplishments, and there could even be more to come from Salah.
The Egypt international still has four Premier League games to add to his tally of 30 goals, as well as the FA Cup and Champions League final.

Should he finish the campaign with a quadruple under his belt, there’s no reason why he can’t also win the Ballon d’Or to go with his FWA Football of the Year crown.
Liverpool need one last push from Mohamed Salah
It sounds silly to say – given his stunning efforts so far this season – but Jürgen Klopp needs one last burst of form from his talisman.
Salah has failed to score in his last two Premier League games, and hasn’t netted in the Champions League since the 2-0 win over Inter Milan in February.

Of course, that isn’t even that bad of a run, but these are the lofty standards the £200,000-a-week man has set for himself.
Salah certainly sounds fired up for the end of the season, as he’s already sent Real Madrid a revenge warning.
Now, it’s time for him to put his money where his mouth is and add to his 30 goals this season – if he does, a historic quadruple could become reality.
