Harry Maguire told Jarrod Bowen that his debut for England was ‘well deserved’, as he posted on the West Ham star’s Instagram post.
It was a mixed debut for Bowen on Saturday, as England suffered a 1-0 defeat to Hungary in the UEFA Nations League.
On one hand, it was Bowen’s first England cap and the first of many for the £20 million free-scoring West Ham star (BBC Sport).
But, on the other, the Three Lions fell to a pretty abject 1-0 defeat against a Hungary side that don’t possess the quality of players Germany will unleash on Tuesday in Munich.
Nonetheless, when Bowen wrote about his emotions on his Three Lions debut yesterday, he received a number of warm messages from his teammates.
Declan Rice told him that it’s the ‘first of many’ for the versatile forward, former centre-back Curtis Davies added ‘love it mate’, whilst Bowen’s girlfriend, Dani Dyer issued a one-word response ‘amazing’.
BOWEN SHOULD START FOR ENGLAND AGAINST GERMANY
Even though England have a lot of attacking threat in their side, they didn’t hurt Hungary’s defence as much as they should have.
Gareth Southgate’s side lacked that drive, speed and bravery in the final third and deserved to lose in Budapest.
Despite all of that, Bowen was one of England’s standout performers and perhaps Man of the Match for his side.
Therefore, it will be interesting if Southgate sticks with Bowen against Germany because there might be something there regarding the link-up between the West Ham star and Harry Kane.
