Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed that West Ham United’s Jarrod Bowen was Man of the Match by half-time despite England losing 1-0 to Hungary in the UEFA Nations League on Saturday.

Bowen made his England debut in Budapest, and despite the versatile Hammers forward doing his best to cause Hungary problems, it wasn’t enough for Gareth Southgate’s side to win.

Of course, that falls down on the manager, his tactics and team selection because he isn’t exactly known to be a front-foot manager and attack teams from the off.

But Bowen shouldn’t be disappointed with what he produced on his England debut because he was his side’s biggest threat and there is more to come.

Nonetheless, this is what Agbonlahor posted on Twitter about Bowen during England’s defeat to Hungary yesterday.

WILL BOWEN START AGAINST GERMANY?

If England couldn’t overcome Hungary, then they face a different test altogether against Germany on Tuesday night because they face off against their familiar foes in Munich.

Bowen deserves to start that game because his threat on the counter and link-up with Harry Kane is one that could cause a problem for the Germans in their own backyard.

Either way, after missing out on England’s last set of international fixtures because of injuries, this is a big chance for Bowen to impress and put his name into the hat for the 2022 World Cup.

If he starts the next campaign, like he finished the recently-concluded one, then there is no way Southgate can leave him out of his final squad for Qatar.

Of course, the likes of Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho can turn up their form in the right direction, but Bowen is surely ahead of them in the pecking order now even if they start the 2022/23 campaign in a strong fashion?
