Well, Arsenal supporters won’t be watching their troops play this weekend.

The Gunners were scheduled to take on Everton at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

However, all Premier League fixtures have been postponed for this coming weekend following the death of the Queen on Thursday evening.

Piers Morgan, an Arsenal supporter, already stated on Twitter that he disagrees with the decision, arguing that sport going ahead is a fitting way to pay tribute to the long-serving monarch who held her position for 70 years.

And Emmanuel Frimpong is also disappointed that there’ll be no football this weekend.

Here’s how the former Arsenal midfielder and ongoing fan of the North Londoners reacted on Twitter:

Why Premier League matches postponed?

According to a statement from the Premier League itself, this round of matches have been cancelled in an effort to ‘honour her extraordinary life and contribution to the nation, and as a mark of respect’.

On the football side of things Arsenal will have wanted the game to go ahead.

Mikel Arteta’s side lost their 100 percent start to the Premier League campaign by suffering a defeat at Old Trafford last weekend.

That was the Gunners’ first loss in six league outings this season and the Emirates Stadium outfit will have wanted to get back on the horse immediately.

Arsenal and FC Zurich held a minute-long silence in memory of Her Majesty midway through their Europa League opener in Switzerland on Thursday night, with the announcement of her passing coinciding with half time in that fixture.
