Pavel Nedved has told Sport Mediaset that Juventus are in no rush to agree a new contract with Paulo Dybala, despite the reported Liverpool transfer target’s deal expiring this June.

Dybala has not signed new terms with the Serie A side since 2017 with talks over a possible extension stalled. The Bianconeri and Argentine had reached an agreement for his renewal back in October, but the deal remains in the works with discussions to continue this month.

The Old Lady offered Dybala €8m-a-year (£128k-a/w) plus €1.5m (£1.25m) in bonuses over four-years to extend, per Corriere della Sera. Their proposal was sufficient to entice the 28-year-old to put pen to paper, yet opted to delay confirmation and postponed future talks.

Now, Dybala is considering his Juventus future, amid interest from Liverpool and Barcelona for a potential free transfer. TuttoMercatoWEB noted in January the Reds are keeping close tabs on developments in Turin. A move to Anfield would also appeal to the Argentina star.

However, Sport now report Dybala is willing to join Barcelona if Xavi Hernandez’s side firm up their interest. He also now feels his time in Turin has reached its end after seven-years.

Nedved claims Juventus in ‘no rush’ to hand Liverpool target Dybala new contract

Juventus vice-president Nedved has now handed Liverpool and Barcelona fresh hope for a free transfer while discussing Dybala’s contractual situation. The Bianconeri chief claims his side are not tackling the matter with the club’s full strength, despite his deal ending soon.

“We were clear with all the players,” he said, as quoted by Calciomercato. “Let’s think first of the sporting result, which is crucial for us, and then we will face everything in due time. The boys know this and we are happy with their attitude. We will wait, there is no rush.”

Dybala missed Juventus’ Champions League last 16 first-leg draw with Villarreal on Tuesday through injury. He has spent sporadic spells on the sidelines so far this season to only make 27 appearances. But the €32m (£26m) maestro has still hit 12 goals and offered six assists.

Arrivabene outlines next date for Dybala discussions

Juventus CEO Maurizio Arrivabene has also told Sky Italia that the Old Lady will speak with Dybala and his agent later this month over the Liverpool transfer target’s future in Turin.

“At the end of February, we will meet all the expiring players,” he said. “We look forward and, in addition to Dybala’s, we will also have to discuss the other renewals. We will do it in the right time and with an eye to the future.

“Contracts are made in two. There can be optimism on one side and pessimism on the other, and vice-versa. The renewals involve a negotiation and, each party that participates in it sets itself a goal.”
