John Terry has labelled Liverpool transfer target Jamal Musiala as Germany’s ‘big star’ at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, as the Chelsea legend told beIN SPORTS (27/11/22 at 8:55 pm).
The Bayern Munich midfielder is shining bright at both club and international level, after leaving Chelsea in 2019, with Terry stating that Musiala was ‘spoken about hugely’ at Stamford Bridge.
Well, that exit from the Premier League to the Bundesliga has worked wonders for the 19-year-old because he is now seen as one of the top youngsters in world football.
That was proven when he was one of the best players on the pitch as Germany recorded a valuable win against Spain at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, which keeps them in the competition ahead of their final game against Costa Rica.
Nonetheless, over the years, Chelsea have let go of many top talents, from Liverpool’s now-thriving forward Mo Salah to Manchester City’s playmaking genius Kevin de Bruyne.
They have gone on to do the business outside of West London and it seems Musiala could be the next, but former Chelsea captain John Terry shared that those players weren’t showing the signs they are showing now back then.
“I think the young boy Musiala was excellent for such a young man to grab the game by the scruff of the neck was absolutely sensational,” said Terry.
“What’s he 19? Everything late on for Germany was coming through him. You normally look at your more experienced players, but he was the one getting on the ball and making things happen. He has been Germany’s big star. He has a big, big future ahead of him.
On whether he was aware of Musiala at Chelsea: “Yes, coming through he was spoken about hugely. I think he just wanted a promotion to the first team and it was a bit too soon than Chelsea could have given it. At other places, he was sort of guaranteed that and he has gone on to become a superstar.
On stop importing players and giving youngsters a chance: “Well, it’s probably a little different. When we had Salah come into the building. We had de Bruyne in the building. At the time, they weren’t the stars they are today. I didn’t see it in my time (in showing signs of being the stars they are today). You judge them of what’s ahead of them, at the time. If they are better than what’s ahead of them, then they come in straightaway.”
LIVERPOOL’S INTEREST IN MUSIALA
The 2022 FIFA World Cup is a hotbed of young talent and so far Musiala is living up to his billing.
It’s even more impressive given that Germany are struggling and seem to be heading towards another early exit, you will hear the cheers from England if that happens.
Either way, one player’s stock that won’t drop is their quick-thinking and ball-carrying expert in the middle of the park, who is attracting interest from many clubs, including Liverpool.
