Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has suggested to Football.London that the Gunners are “trying” to get a deal done for Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhailo Mudryk.
While Arteta has not explicitly mentioned Mudryk’s name, the Arsenal manager’s response when asked directly about the Ukraine international winger shows that he wants the 22-year-old to move to the Emirates Stadium in the January transfer window.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported on Twitter that Arsenal have made a third bid of £62 million for the winger.
The Telegraph have reported that the Gunners are closing in on a deal for the Ukrainian and could pay £80 million, including add-ons, to compete it.
Mikel Arteta on Arsenal target Mykhailo Mudryk
Areta said: “We can’t talk about players, there is interest in things we would like to do. We are a bit short, we are trying.”

Exciting and encouraging
In our opinion, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta’s comments on Mykhailo Mudryk are very exciting and encouraging.
It is clear that the Gunners are determined to sign the 22-year-old winger in the January transfer window.
Now, of course, Shakhtar are going to try to get as much transfer fee as they can, but that Arteta has publicly acknowledged interest in the youngster shows that Arsenal think that they could get a deal done this month.
Arsenal will take on Tottenham Hotspur in the North London derby this weekend.
