Arsenal fans have taken to social media to react to the reported fee Manchester United will pay for Raphael Varane.

According to the Athletic, the Red Devils will pay Real Madrid £34m initially for the defender. Moreover, the fee could increase with add ons. However, it is not known just how much this will bump up the price tag.

Arsenal are also close to signing a new centre-back this window. As reported by the Athletic, the Gunners will sign Ben White from Brighton and Hove Albion for a fee of £50m.

Indeed, it is understandable why there is some outrage from Arsenal supporters over Varane’s move to United.

The French international is one of the most decorated defenders in world football as well as one of the game’s top centre-backs. With Madrid, Varane won four UEFA Champions League titles as well as three La Liga titles.

Moreover, the 28-year-old defender was part of France’s 2018 FIFA World Cup-winning squad. Furthermore, Varane featured heavily for Les Bleus in Russia.

With United close to signing Varane for a fee £16m cheaper than what Arsenal will be paying for White, some supporters on social media were fuming.

Whilst White is five years younger than Varane and will likely be on a cheaper weekly wage than his soon-to-be United rival, Arsenal fans couldn’t help but be mad at the finances involved with both deals.
