Liverpool will be hoping for a smooth transition this summer as Arne Slot looks to continue from where Jurgen Klopp left off at Anfield.
There is no doubt that the Reds are at the start of a transitional phase and changes to their backroom staff will likely be followed by a number of changes to their squad.
Liverpool invested heavily in their midfield last summer after the departures of Fabinho, Jordan Henderson and Naby Keita left them short in that department.
The Merseyside club ended up bringing in Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch and Wataru Endo to reinforce the squad.
Liverpool’s new-look midfield settled in well last season and while the club fell just short of challenging for the title, they secured their return to the Champions League with a third-place finish.
However, Endo has called for additional midfield reinforcements this summer with the Japan international wanting additional depth in his position.
Liverpool urged to sign a midfielder this summer
Endo turned out to be a surprise bargain for Liverpool last season, with the 31-year-old stepping in to replace Fabinho.
Jurgen Klopp often rotated between Endo and Mac Allister as his deep-lying midfielder, but Endo believes a new midfield signing is needed.
Speaking on Abema Sports Times, he said “I think it would be better to get a number six midfielder. I think there is a possibility that they [Liverpool] are viewing Mac Allister as a number six but at the moment there aren’t many players to begin with.
“I had the most opportunities to play, and so did Mac Allister. We also had Thiago Alcantara, but he had a lot of injuries and is set to leave the club at the end of this season.”

Klopp has left solid foundations and some world-class players at Slot’s disposal next season, but the Dutchman will want to make his own mark on the squad.
His high-energy style of play will be physically demanding for any side in world football and while Liverpool are well equipped to handle it, rich depth in midfield will be needed.

Liverpool may also be forced to sign two goalkeepers this summer after HITC revealed that Adrian informed Liverpool that he has rejected their contract offer.
Slot will not want to be left short in any department as he tries to hit the ground running at Anfield.
