Alan Shearer has given his verdict on the performance of Chelsea winger Noni Madueke against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool in the final of the Carabao Cup.

The Newcastle United legend and BBC Sport pundit was not impressed at all by the display produced by Madueke.

So, what has Alan Shearer said about Chelsea winger Noni Madueke? Let’s take a look.

Criticism of Chelsea winger Noni Madueke vs Liverpool

Well, Chelsea have lost the final of the Carabao Cup to Premier League rivals Liverpool. Virgil van Dijk scored the only goal of the match in the 118th minute.

Noni Madueke did not start the match for Chelsea. The £30.7 million (BBC Sport) winger came on as a substitute in the 97th minute for Conor Gallagher, who is still waiting for a new contract from the Blues.

Alan Shearer was following the match for BBC Radio 5 Live, and the Newcastle United legend noted that Madueke missed three good chances to make a difference.

Although the winger was very bright after coming on and made some brilliant runs, he did not have the finishing prowess and lacked the final ball.

Madueke took two shots of which one was on target, had a pass accuracy of 44.4%, took 15 touches, attempted two dribbles, and made one tackle.

Shearer said on BBC Radio 5 Live in the final minutes of the second half of extra time: “Madueke has had three really good opportunities and he has wasted all of them, he did exactly what Liverpool wanted him to do there.”

My View: Chelsea were disappointing

While Chelsea had chances to score and win the final of the Carabao Cup, I have to say that the Blues were disappointing. They should have done better.

True, Caoimhin Kelleher was in fantastic form and was a star for Liverpool in goal, but Chelsea did not test the Reds’ defence as many times as they could have.

Liverpool have a very young team, yet Chelsea lost the final in extra time. I think that Blues manager Mauricio Pochettino will be hugely disappointed.
