Did Everton get the players they needed in the January window? Where else could they have improved?
After a fairly stop-and-start beginning to their 2016-17 Premier League campaign, Everton finally seem to have kicked into gear under new boss, Ronald Koeman. The former Southampton manager has been experimenting with his system and his starting XI a lot since taking charge, but after the club’s 6-3 thumping of Bournemouth at the weekend, Koeman appears to have found a winning formula.
Further to this, Koeman also didn’t waste any time in strengthening his team in January. Bringing in Manchester United’s French holding-midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin and Charlton’s exciting youngster Ademola Lookman, Everton now look a much better side than they did before the start of January.
But how do Everton fans feel about the club’s transfer business? Were these two signings enough to push for a European spot come the end of the season? HITC Sport asked Everton fans these questions and more…

“Unless we get five good players in we’re not gonna be happy” said one Everton fan, when asked for his views on Everton’s transfer business. Another fan added that “every player that Koeman’s brought has added something to us.” Everton fans were unsurprisingly excited about Lookman in particular, who has burst onto the scene at Goodison Park and made the huge step up from League One to the Premier League look easy.
Other fans were delighted to see Koeman get rid of much of the deadwood at Goodison Park. “People that weren’t going to get a game anyway, we’ve got them off the wage bill, brilliant” said one Everton fan.
One Everton fan was also delighted to not see Everton do business on deadline day, as emergency panic buys can often lead to huge, over-inflated prices.
