Real Sociedad superstar Mikel Oyarzabal has returned to training after a six-month ACL injury kept the reported Manchester City and West Ham target out of action.

As per Sociedad’s official Twitter account, the La Liga side posted a video of the Spanish international back in training for the first time this season after Oyarzabal ruptured his cruciate ligament in March, with GSFN reporting that the winger could be back in time for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Before his injury, Oyarzabal was linked with a move away from Sociedad as the attacker’s form continued to catch the eye of some of Europe’s biggest clubs, with City and West Ham both interested in the 25-year-old attacker as reported by EuroSport and TalkSport.

However, the Sociedad captain’s injury changed all of that, and now it is likely that Oyarzabal will remain at the club until the end of this season as the winger looks to rebuild his fitness and return to the kind of form that led to such strong interest from City and West Ham.

With a release clause of €75m (£65m) according to AS, Oyarzabal would be quite the expensive signing for both City and West Ham. Yet with the attacker now making his long-awaited return from injury, there’s a chance that a club could choose to activate this trigger in 2023 should the winger return to form in a big way.

Many would agree that before his injury, Oyarzabal was one of the best forwards in La Liga, with the winger providing Sociedad with both an attacking and creative threat that very few could match. And the 25-year-old’s return to the pitch could result in a transfer to the Premier League next year.

After all, Oyarzabal has been linked with a move to England for the majority of his career, and the attacker’s return from injury could see a spark of interest from Premier League sides if the winger can recapture his incredible form that has made the winger such a highly-rated talent.
