Victor Osimhen’s Galatasaray contract could start another bidding war in January if one special clause is activated
The transfer saga that dominated the final days of the 2024 summer window is finally nearing an end as Victor Osimhen closes in on a move to Galatasaray.
Osimhen missed out on deadline day moves to Chelsea and Al Ahli in Saudi Arabia and looked set to be frozen out of Antonio Conte’s Napoli squad altogether.
However, Galatasaray saw an opportunity and pounced and are set to sign the Nigeria international on loan
The 25-year-old was mobbed at Istanbul airport by fans on Monday night in a move that nobody was expecting.

Victor Osimhen offered late transfer lifeline by Galatasaray
In most cases, the transfer window had closed for many leagues around the world and it looked as if Osimhen, one of the world’s most in-form forwards, wouldn’t see a minute of game time until January at the earliest.
He was promptly removed from the squad and his number nine shirt taken away from him – which is now being worn by new signing Romelu Lukaku, who was one of Conte’s main targets this summer.
The Turkish Super Lig transfer window doesn’t close until 13 September, meaning that Galatasaray were able to to swoop in and give Osimhen the chance to play.
They’re reportedly paying all of Osimhen’s yearly salary, but to join, the forward asked for a specific clause to be introduced.

Victor Osimhen Galatasaray contract has Europe’s elite on red alert
According to Turkish outlet A Spor, Osimhen requested that his contract should contain a break clause that would allow him to leave Galatasaray if one of 10 specific clubs came in for him.
At this moment in time, the 10 teams in question have yet to be revealed however there will be strong links to the likes of Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, and the rest of Europe’s elite.
There were also extra reports claiming that Osimhen requested to have his release clause at Napoli reduced from £110m to £63.4m in a bid to secure a quick exit away from the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
Napoli signed the 25-year-old from French giants Lille in 2020 for a then-club record fee of £65m and he has gone on to score 76 goals in 133 games, including 31 in the 2022/2023 season, where they ended their 30-year wait to win the Serie A title.
