Former Leeds United director Victor Orta has admitted that a player who has joined Sevilla is a player he wanted to bring to Elland Road.
Following relegation from the Premier League back in May of 2023, former Leeds United director of football Victor Orta departed the Yorkshire club.
Leeds failed to win promotion back to the Premier League under Daniel Farke as The Whites suffered a 1-0 defeat to Southampton.
Archie Gray departed Leeds United for Spurs and the Yorkshire side have been busy this summer as they bid to make their way back to the summit of the Championship and eventually back into the Premier League.

Victor Orta admits he would have taken Alvaro Fernandez to Leeds
After departing Leeds back in the summer of 2023, Orta was appointed as sporting director of Sevilla with Monchi moving to Aston Villa.
During his current spell as sporting director of the La Liga side, Sevilla have confirmed the signing of SD Huesca’s Alvaro Fernandez but Orta has explained that he would have taken the goalkeeper to Leeds if he were still at the Yorkshire club.
The Spanish club have been busy overhauling the squad this summer, with their struggling finances requiring a need to sell stars and secure replacements on the cheap.
Signing Fernandez represented a free transfer for Sevilla and Orta has opened up on the club signing the goalkeeper.
“We have followed him up. I was on the verge of signing him at Leeds. I was impressed by his great performance last season,” he told El Sevillista when asked about the goalkeeper.
Leeds’ busy summer transfer window
Leeds confirmed the signing of Joe Rodon back in July with the Welshman spending time on loan at the Yorkshire club before a permanent transfer to the Championship side.
As well as this, The Whites have signed right-back Jayden Bogle from Sheffield United and it could well be a busy end to the window for the club.
One player they won’t be signing is Fernandez with the Huesca ace completing his move to Sevilla but he could have gone to Leeds had Orta been at the club.
