Ian Wright has admitted that he is ‘vexed deep down’ at the signings Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea are making this summer, as the Arsenal legend told his own podcast.
When Wright was told about Arsenal closing in on the transfer of Oleksandr Zinchenko, he responded by saying ‘the Zinc is coming’, as his two fellow pundits tried to give him a boost regarding the work his own side are doing this summer.
The transfer business in London has been pretty lively, with Tottenham’s biggest purchase being the capture of Richarlison from Everton.
Whilst Chelsea are now making moves under the new ownership, with Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly joining Thomas Tuchel’s squad.
Arsenal have also knocked on Manchester City’s door and signed Gabriel Jesus, as Wright had this brief message about the transfers across London.
“Just seeing Tottenham and Chelsea make signings, it makes a man just like vexed deep down,” said Wright.
On being told Zinchenko is coming: “Zinc is coming. Oh my God, the Zinc.”
WHO WILL FINISH HIGHER?
It’s going to be interesting to see who finishes the top dogs in London next season, with four sides from the capital securing European finishes last time out.
From the Champions League for Chelsea and Spurs to the Europe Conference League for David Moyes’ West Ham.
The battle to finish top of the pile might prove to be a very tight race next season, with Chelsea winning that race during the 2021/22 season.
Spurs, with Antonio Conte now set to be in charge for a full season, will be dancing from the rooftops, whilst Tuchel will be hoping the club’s new ownership continues to back him in the transfer market.
The Hammers are the underdogs from the above teams but need to make more moves in the market if they are to punch above their weight again.
Whilst Arsenal are splashing the cash once more, as the pressure is well and truly on Mikel Arteta to secure Champions League football.
