Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal want to sign Douglas Luiz in the summer transfer window, and I think that the Gunners will have been impressed by the Aston Villa central midfielder’s performance against Nottingham Forest at Villa Park on Saturday.
Arsenal keen on Aston Villa star Douglas Luiz
As HITC revealed earlier this month, Arsenal want to sign Douglas Luiz from Premier League rivals Aston Villa in the summer of 2024.
Manchester City and Bayern Munich are also keeping tabs on Luiz, who, according to former Arsenal star and Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson, is “quite well-rounded and still very underrated”.

The Gunners wanted to sign Luiz back in the summer of 2022 and made a bid of £15 million for him. Villa turned it down.
Luiz is one of the best and most important players for Villa and is a big reason why Unai Emery’s side are in the running for a top-four finish in the Premier League table this season.
Douglas Luiz stars vs Nottingham Forest
Villa, who want to sign Rosenborg midfielder Sverre Nypan, beat Nottingham Forest 4-2 at Villa Park in the league on Saturday. Aside from playing a starring role in central midfield, Luiz also scored two goals.
The 25-year-old Brazil international found the back of the net first in the 29th minute and then again on 39 minutes.
For the first goal, Luiz slotted home a Jacob Ramsey cut-back, and for his second, he headed in John McGinn’s right-wing cross.
The midfielder, who is rated highly by Roy Keane, has scored nine goals and given four assists in 25 Premier League matches for Villa so far this season.
Last season, Luiz scored six goals and gave six assists in 33 starts and four substitute appearances in the Premier League for the Villans.
It will be interesting to see if Villa are willing to cash in on Luiz at the end of the season if they clinch a spot in the UEFA Champions League.
