Speaking in the latest issue of FourFourTwo Magazine (June 2022, page 33), Pep Lijnders has been praising Mohamed Salah.

The Egyptian has been one of the Reds’ most important players this season, and Lijnders has seemingly been very impressed by his showings in recent months.

Lijnders says that Salah has transformed to become more of a playmaker as well as a supreme goalscorer, and he claims that while he’s been brilliant on the pitch, his attitude and application behind the scenes makes him a fantastic example to every other player at the club.

Lijnders had nothing but good things to say about the attacker.

“Mo Salah is so much more than a ‘striker’ for us. Our game stimulates this development and forces it to be that way, as everyone is responsible for everything,” Lijnders said.

“At the same time, he’s become more and more of a playmaker as well. He’s a gifted finisher – his imagination and intuition in those moments is brilliant. The way that he can keep the ball in the toughest situations and find a way to come out and score is what identifies him. Many players have that, but few have it consistently; if you do, you’re part of the world’s best, because it’s all about the mentality to never give less.”

“In the most influential matches, he’s everywhere to be found. For me though, bigger than the achievement of his goals, it’s his everyday presence inside our club. His character is very special, he’s a true example to everyone, and that’s what makes Mo such a great player. There’s no bigger compliment in life. The best ones stay humble and are true examples.”

Perfect player

Lijnders says that Salah is an example to everyone, and he’s absolutely right.

The winger always plays with his heart on his sleeve, he’s rarely ever injured and even though there is always speculation about his future, he never seems to allow that to affect his performances for Liverpool.

Salah is as close as you can get to being the perfect footballer in this day and age. His talent, skill and attitude are all absolutely fantastic and he’s undoubtedly one of the best players in the world.

As the Assistant Manager says, Salah is a great example for every other player at Liverpool, and if youngsters such as Kaide Gordon, Harvey Elliott and Luis Diaz use him as a role model, they won’t go too far wrong.

The 29-year-old deserves all of the praise that has been coming his way, and if he wins the quadruple with the Reds, you have to imagine that he’ll be in that Ballon d’Or conversation once again.
