Liverpool now have real hope of keeping Mohamed Salah amid claims he has changed his mind about a new contract to stay at Anfield.

As if Liverpool fans needed more positivity right now, it looks like Salah may be committing his future to the Reds after all.

The Mirror report that Salah is ready to stay at Liverpool and agree a new contract that could see him stay at Anfield until the end of his career.

Salah is understood to have changed his mind about his future and now wants to stay at Liverpool having rejected terms once.

The Egyptian wanted around £500,000-a-week but is now prepared to compromise, taking less money but adding another year onto the three-year offer put forward.

That would tie Salah to Liverpool until 2026 and to the age of 34, with Liverpool seemingly ready to strike a deal.

Liverpool may have felt they were in a tricky situation here.

There is no doubting that Salah is one of the top players in the world right now, and you obviously want to keep your best players.

Yet with Salah set to enter his 30’s, advanced analytics – much like the ones Liverpool have utilised to drive their recent success – would suggest that players experience major dips in their 30’s.

We certainly saw it with Mesut Ozil and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at Arsenal, and the Gunners paid the price for giving them big new contracts.

Salah is on a different level entirely, but the Fenway Sports Group may have been a little worried about giving such huge money to a player nearing his 30’s.

It looks like the two sides have found a compromise though, with Liverpool reluctant to let Salah become a free agent in 2023.

The world’ biggest clubs would have been queueing up for Salah’s signature, but it now looks like Liverpool will receive an enormous boost in their push for Premier League and European glory.
