Liverpool have already broken the bank on signing one South American hitman this summer.
Earlier in the window, the Reds splashed out £85 million – a club record – to bring Uruguay international Darwin Nunez to Anfield.
And now it’s looking like they have their eyes on another.
On Friday it was reported that Liverpool were interested in signing 19-year-old Santos attacker Marcos Leonardo.
And according to Bolavip on the continent, the Merseysiders are expected to make an ‘official proposal’ for the young marksman ‘very soon’.
According to the publication, Leonardo has ‘guts, physical strength, agility’ – three qualities that we know Jurgen Klopp certainly admires in his transfers.
Despite breaking their club record transfer fee this summer, it’s still been a relatively subdued window for the Reds aside from that.
Their only other pieces of business were also for teenagers – 19-year-old Fabio Carvalho, the first through the door, and Calvin Ramsay who turns 19 tomorrow.
With that in mind, bringing in Leonardo would certainly be on brand for Klopp and Liverpool but time will tell how realistic the speculation is.
At the moment, all signs indicate that this is one that could genuinely materialise.
