According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Liverpool are interested in signing Domenico Berardi, who is currently starring for Italy at EURO 2020.
What’s the story?
Well, the Italian news outlet believe that Jürgen Klopp’s side are targeting the 26-year-old, who’s enjoying a great period in his career.
Impressively, Berardi scored 17 goals in 30 Serie A appearances last season, while also providing eight assists.
So far at EURO 2020, the Sassuolo forward forced Merih Demiral into scoring an own goal in the 3-0 win over Turkey with a driven cross.
He then laid on an assist for Manuel Locatelli during the 3-0 win over Switzerland.
In that respect, it’s no wonder Liverpool have been impressed.
He’s compared himself to Arjen Robben
As Goal covered, Berardi thinks he’s pretty similar to Dutch legend Arjen Robben – he’s clearly not short of confidence.

You can see why he thinks that. Both forwards are heavily left footed, and like to run at opponents with a direct style of play.
Interestingly, Berardi has also been compared to Italy legend Roberto Baggio by former Italy midfielder Giancarlo Antognoni, again mentioned by Goal.
Former Italy coach Arrigo Sacchi has also described Berardi as a ‘very modern footballer’ in the past.
By all accounts, the 13-cap Italy international – who Juventus have a right to purchase for £15 million – would be a great signing for Liverpool.
If Mohamed Salah – who plays a bit like Berardi – leaves Anfield, we wouldn’t be surprised to see Klopp pursue the Italian.

Even if the Egyptian doesn’t leave, it would make sense to sign the EURO 2020 star.
Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri failed to deputise effectively for Klopp’s starting forwards last term, so fresh blood is necessary in our view.
Liverpool will probably be hoping Berardi stops playing so well at EURO 2020 – his value is soaring with each exquisite display he delivers.
